Hot Stone Massage
Hot Stone Massage is a basic body massage enhanced by the use of hot lava stones applied to the body by the practitioner. They can be placed on the body at various trigger points or they can be held in the practitioner’s hands and glided over the muscle area using heat and friction to help relax the muscles and ease in release of tension.
Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy combines the soothing, healing touch of massage with the therapeutic properties of Essential Oils. Aromatherapy is a holistic treatment which can have a profound effect on the mind, body and emotions. Many of the oils used in Aromatherapy have a long history of therapeutic use.
Prenatal Massage
Prenatal massage shares many of the goals of regular massage to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and just make you feel good. But it’s also tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies.
Geriatric Massage
Geriatric massage is a form of massage designed to meet the specific needs of the elderly population. It helps improve blood circulation, relieve pain, and increase range of motion. Active or passive movement of the joints may also be part of geriatric massage.
Elderly people often suffer from a variety of such age related diseases as Parkinson’s disease, arthritis, diabetes, or heart disease. As a result, they have poor blood circulation and limited physical activity. Many of them are also anxious, depressed, and lonely. Geriatric massage can help them maintain and improve their overall health, as well as regain certain physical functions that have been reduced or lost due to aging. In addition, it can relieve anxiety and depression and provide comfort to touch-deprived elderly patients.
Ear Candling
Ear candling is used primarily for cleaning the ears and promoting a healthy atmosphere in the ears, sinus cavity, and throat. Also the process can help regulate pressure, assist in postnasal drip, sinusitis, migraines, and some forms of hearing loss. When the Europeans first came to North America they found that the North American Indians had many different ways of healing, one of those ways was ear candling. It is said that some tribes such as the Hopi Indians were very advanced in healing and were the first to used ear candling.
Ear candles are long, hollow tubes of pure, unbleached cotton muslin, coated with beeswax. The process is simple and relaxing. The person receiving the treatment lies on their side in a comfortable position. The small end of the candle is inserted into the ear while the large end of the candle is lit. A feeling of warmth will be felt inside the ear and the crackling sound of the candle will be heard while it burns. Ear candles work by injecting smoke into the ear canal. The smoke spirals downward through the hollow candle, loosening impacted wax, and helping evaporate moisture. The warmth of the smoke, and the relaxing sounds serve to aid the body in the natural processes related to the ear.
